The Rwanda Meteorology Agency and the the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences will partner on research and capacity building owing to a new agreement. The focus of the partnership will be on applications of mathematical sciences in climate change.
Officials met to iron out the details including John Ntaganda Semafara, Director General of the Meteo Rwanda, and Dr. Charles Lebon Mberi Kimpolo, Senior Program Manager at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences – Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI).
At the meeting, Kimpolo highlighted the AIMS Industry Initiative. As one of the six core pillars of AIMS-NEI ecosystem focusing on industry collaboration and economic advancement in Africa. Its mandate is to connect graduates to industry through meaningful internship and employment opportunities. The initiative strives to link mathematical sciences to industry need, while filling the skills gap across Africa and tackling youth unemployment.
